We are REACH (Real Education About College Health), a peer education program whose goal is to educate our peers on important health topics. Our team includes 20 Binghamton University undergraduate students overseen by a Health Promotion and Prevention staff and two Student Assistants.

We, the REACH peers, will be researching and creating content weekly to share accurate information on the health topics we cover. These topics range from cold/flu prevention, nutrition, physical activity, alcohol awareness & party safety, safer sex, and sleep awareness. We will also provide information in regards to COVID-19 and will work under the framework of harm reduction and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Although our target population are college students, the information can apply to everyone. In addition, we are not professionals but rely on credible and accurate sources to ensure the most up to date information.

Our mission, as REACH peers, is to educate and collaborate with many Binghamton University students, staff, and faculty in order to promote various health topics while also providing resources and services for all. We strive to de-stigmatize and eliminate health myths using accurate information and providing a safe space for students. We envision our efforts will foster a safe environment where students may come to us or with each other and become versed in ways to live a healthier lifestyle, even after college.

While we offer many programs, resources, and services, one of our key resources is our Safer Sex Kits and Menstrual Care Product Kits. These kits are FREE and customizable to your preferences and needs. Within the Safer Sex Kits, you have the option of choosing 10 external condoms, 10 lubricant and 5 internal condoms, and/or 5 dental dams per order. Within the Menstrual Care Product Kits, students can opt for 12 individually wrapped regular pads, 12 regular tampons (individually wrapped cardboard applicator), and 12 liners.

These can be ordered online for all Binghamton Students here. Both on and off-campus students can order from us! completing the request form, on-campus students will need to submit their BU Box number and off-campus students will indicate they live off-campus. Off-campus students will then need to schedule a pick-up time in our office. All our kits come in discreet packaging!

These products are also available at our three kiosks, located at:

  • The outside of the REACH office in Decker Student Health Services (IN-119)

  • In the Ground Floor of Old O’Connor, by the vending machines

  • Health Promotion and Prevention Services: Third Floor, Old O’Connor (next to the elevator)

Be sure to tune in as we will be hosting several events and programs for BU students throughout the semester! Every event will be posted here on our blog, B-engaged.

We are excited to help and hope our educational and engaging blog aids in your journey for a more successful and healthy college career. Please interact with us! Our goal is to create a safe and open-minded environment as we welcome all constructive opinions and questions.
